Ironman Nice 2010

Frederik Van Lierde entre dans larène Niçoise de lIronman !

Après avoir décroché la cinquième place au triathlon international dAbu Dhabi en mars dernier, il annonce sa participation à lIronman de Nice, à la conquête dun titre.

Dans le monde du triathlon, si le
nom de Van Lierde est synonyme de champion ; le prénom de Frederik est
également souvent associé à de prestigieux titres. Le triathlète belge
de 31 ans affiche en effet un beau palmarès : 2ème place de lIronman
Nouvelle Zelande en 2008, Champion dEurope de Triathlon LD en 2007,
champion de Belgique Courte Distance (1/4) 2002 et 2005, et Vice
champion dEurope triathlon courte Distance  à Echternatch en 2002.

Pour sa treizième saison, il a prévu denchainer deux Ironman 70.3
(Nouvelle Orléans le 15 avril, puis St Croix le 2 mai) avant de se
mesurer aux athlètes du full distance à Nice. A nen pas douter, ses
qualités pour le vélo pèseront sur la physionomie de la course chez les
pros homme le 27 juin.

Son choix de la destination azuréenne est pluriel : la proximité avec
la Belgique et Nice qui correspond à une certaine idée du « parcours
parfait ». Il fait dailleurs de cette course lun de ses principaux
objectifs de saison, en visant le podium. Son deuxième challenge, non
des moindres : le top 10 à Hawaii. « Si j’atteins lun des deux,  je
serais un homme comblé ! »

Frederik Van Lierde enters the Ironman Nice arena!

After claiming fifth place at the international triathlon of Abu Dhabi
last March, he announced his participation at Ironman Nice and is
seeking a title.

In the world of triathlon, the name Van Lierde is synonymous with
champion; the first name Frederik is also often associated with
prestigious titles. Indeed, the 31 year old Belgium triathlete has a
number of excellent records to his name: 2nd place at New Zealand
Ironman in 2008, European champion of Triathlon LD in 2007, Belgium
champion Short Distance (1/4) 2002 and 2005, and European Vice champion
of the short Distance triathlon in Echternatch in 2002.

For his thirteenth season, he has planned to race at two Ironman 70.3
events: New Orleans on April, 15th, and St Croix on May, 2nd; before
facing the full distance athletes in Nice. Certainly, his bike
qualities will make the difference on June, 27th.

He chose the French Riviera for both its close proximity to Belgium and
for its ideal race course. As a serious challenger, he seeks a top 3
podium finish in Nice and the top 10 in Hawaii. Concerning these
targets, he declares, Even reaching only one of these two goals would
make me happy.
